Next Chapter Skills Private Limited is a company incorporated in India. We operate ApplicantSpace, an AI-powered resume tailoring platform accessible at applicantspace.com.

2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your full name
- Email address
- Password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash — we cannot see your password)
- Account creation date
- Referral code (if you were invited by another user)
2.2 Resume & Career Data
When you use ApplicantSpace's core features, you provide:
- Master Resume — your work history, skills, education, projects, and contact information
- Job Descriptions — pasted or captured via our Chrome Extension
- Tailored Resumes — AI-generated versions of your resume for each application
- Skill Overrides — additional context you provide about specific skills
- Application Records — company names, job titles, application status, notes
2.3 Usage Data
We track operational data to maintain the service:
- Number of resumes tailored (for internal capacity management)
- Trial start and end dates
- Account status (active/suspended)
- Referral statistics (how many people you've invited)
2.4 Technical Data
Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard server data including IP addresses and request timestamps. We do not access or use this data for profiling. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.
2.5 What We Do NOT Collect
- Payment or card information (we do not process payments currently)
- Social media credentials or profiles
- Device fingerprints or advertising identifiers
- Location data beyond what is included in your IP address (as logged by Vercel)
- Data from third-party tracking pixels or ad networks
3. How We Use Your Data

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties. We never sell your personal data.
4. AI Processing — OpenAI Disclosure
Important: When you tailor a resume, your master resume content and the job description are sent to OpenAI's API for AI processing. This is the core mechanism that powers resume tailoring.
This means your career data (work history, skills, education) is transmitted to OpenAI's servers for the purpose of generating your tailored resume. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this data. As of 2024, OpenAI does not use API inputs to train their models by default.
We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle this data.
No other third parties receive your resume content.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored in a MySQL database hosted on secure infrastructure
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text
- All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only
- We do not transfer your data to countries outside those necessary for the service (India, Vercel infrastructure, OpenAI US servers)
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account exists
- Deleted accounts: Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Tailored resumes: Stored indefinitely unless you delete them or your account
- Server logs: Retained by Vercel per their standard retention policies (typically 30 days)
7. Your Rights
7.1 Under Indian Law (DPDPA 2023)
- Right to access — request a copy of your personal data
- Right to correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
- Right to grievance redressal — raise a complaint about data processing
- Right to nominate — nominate another person to exercise rights in case of death or incapacity
7.2 For EU/UK Users (GDPR)
- Right to access, rectification, erasure, and portability of your data
- Right to restrict or object to processing
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
7.3 For California Users (CCPA)
- Right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt out of sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
