Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies ApplicantSpace sets, why, and how you can control them. The short version: we use essential authentication cookies only. No tracking. No advertising. No third-party cookies.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device when you visit. They help the website remember information about your visit — such as whether you're logged in.
Cookies are either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period). They can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by third-party services embedded on the page (third-party).
2. Cookies We Set
ApplicantSpace sets essential cookies only. These are required for the platform to function. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without losing access to your account.
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
next-auth.session-token | Essential | Keeps you logged in to your account. Set by NextAuth.js, our authentication system. | 30 days (or until you sign out) |
next-auth.csrf-token | Essential | Protects against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks. Required for secure form submissions. | Session |
next-auth.callback-url | Essential | Remembers where to redirect you after a successful login. | Session |
All of these cookies are HTTP-only (not accessible via JavaScript), which means they cannot be read or stolen by malicious scripts.
3. What We Do NOT Use
- Analytics cookies — We do not currently use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other analytics platform that sets cookies.
- Advertising cookies — We do not run advertising. No ad networks, retargeting pixels, or marketing cookies are used.
- Third-party tracking cookies — No Facebook Pixel, Google Tag Manager, or similar third-party trackers are embedded on our platform.
- Social media cookies — We do not embed social media widgets that set tracking cookies.
4. Third-Party Services
While we don't set third-party tracking cookies, some of the services we use may have their own cookie practices:
- Vercel (hosting) — Our infrastructure provider may set technical cookies as part of their CDN and edge network operations. These are infrastructure-level and not used for tracking.
OpenAI (our AI provider) does not set cookies on your browser — the interaction with OpenAI happens entirely server-side.
5. How to Control Cookies
5.1 Browser Settings
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, or block cookies. However, if you block essential cookies, you will not be able to log in to ApplicantSpace.
Browser cookie settings guides:
5.2 Signing Out
Signing out of ApplicantSpace will clear your session cookie from your browser.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new cookies — for example, if we add analytics in the future — we will update this policy and notify active users by email. We will obtain consent where required by applicable law before setting non-essential cookies.
