Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies ApplicantSpace sets, why, and how you can control them. The short version: we set a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in, and — only if you accept it in the cookie banner — Google Analytics, to understand how the product is used. No advertising cookies, ever. No third-party trackers beyond that one opt-in.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device when you visit. They help the website remember information about your visit — such as whether you're logged in.
Cookies are either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies(stored for a defined period). They can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by third-party services embedded on the page (third-party).
2. Cookies We Set
ApplicantSpace sets two categories of cookies: essential cookies, required for the platform to function, and one optional analytics cookie pair that is only ever set if you accept it in the cookie banner. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without losing access to your account; you can decline or withdraw the analytics cookies at any time.

The next-auth.* cookies are HTTP-only (not accessible via JavaScript), which means they cannot be read or stolen by malicious scripts.
2.2 Analytics (only if you Accept)
If you accept the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic and usage patterns. If you reject it, or never respond, these are never set.

3. What We Do NOT Use
- Advertising cookies — We do not run advertising. No ad networks, retargeting pixels, or marketing cookies are used.
- Third-party tracking beyond analytics — No Facebook Pixel, Google Tag Manager, Mixpanel, or similar third-party trackers are embedded on our platform.
- Social media cookies — We do not embed social media widgets that set tracking cookies.
4. Third-Party Services
Some of the services we use may have their own cookie or data practices:
- Google Cloud Run (hosting) — Our infrastructure provider may set technical cookies as part of its load-balancing and edge operations. These are infrastructure-level and not used for tracking.
- Google Analytics — See §2.2. Loaded only after you accept the cookie banner.
Azure OpenAI (our AI provider) does not set cookies on your browser — the interaction happens entirely server-side.
5. How to Control Cookies
5.0 The cookie banner
On your first visit, we ask you to Accept or Reject the optional analytics cookies described in §2.2. Rejecting means _ga/_ga_<container-id> are never set. You can change your mind at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer, which reopens this choice — withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it.
5.1 Browser Settings
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, or block cookies. However, if you block essential cookies, you will not be able to log in to ApplicantSpace.

5.2 Signing Out
Signing out of ApplicantSpace will clear your session cookie from your browser.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce a new category of cookie beyond what’s listed here, we will update this policy, notify active users by email, and — where the new cookie isn’t strictly necessary — extend the cookie banner to cover it before it is ever set.
